Peter Kent 
Senior Vice President, General Legal Counsel

Peter Kent is senior vice president and general legal counsel of the Invensys Operations Management division of Invensys plc, responsible for all aspects of the company’s legal and contract management services. He joined the legal department of BTR plc in 1993, overseeing the company’s mergers and acquisitions activity in the Americas. After BTR merged with Siebe plc in 1999 to create Invensys, Kent served as vice president and general gounsel of the company’s Power Systems division, as well as director of Densei-Lambda K.K., a majority-owned affiliate of Invensys that was also traded on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Before accepting his current role, Kent served as vice president, global legal services for Invensys, responsible for the development and implementation of new processes and systems that enhanced the delivery of legal and contract management services across the company. Prior to that he was the vice president and general counsel of the APV Division of Invensys, overseeing all legal functions of that business.

Kent has more than 25 years of corporate legal experience, beginning his career as a corporate law and securities associate with Chadbourne & Parke in New York, where he led a team to resolve a wide range of complex transactional and corporate law issues. He also served as the Bigelow Fellow and Lecturer-in-Law at the University of Chicago Law School. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1985 and holds two law degrees from Oxford University.
